At Profjord, part of the Humphree Group, you are offered a dynamic and evolving position as a Technical Design Engineer, where you can combine your passion for design and form with your engineering skills to influence the future of boats and ships. As a Technical Design Engineer, you will be part of a small team of Naval Architects with extensive knowledge in shipbuilding, hydrodynamics, CAD modeling, and CFD simulation. You will work on a variety of projects involving design, surface models for simulations, general arrangements, and drawings in CAD.

As technical consultants, we at Profjord perform analyses, calculations, and constructions primarily for the marine industry, directly or indirectly related to our core competency in hydrodynamics. Many of our assignments are unique and require deep technical knowledge to earn the trust needed to win these projects. Therefore, your creativity will be crucial, and you will also have the opportunity to develop yourself in the field to keep the company competitive and secure new, interesting projects.

Is this you?
We are looking for someone with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Design or Naval Architecture. You excel in creating 3D models and drawings and have construction skills. If you are also knowledgeable or highly interested in hydrodynamics or structural engineering, you will be a great fit for our team. Previous experience as a technical consultant is an advantage as you will be familiar with our environment. The software we use includes Rhino, SolidEdge, Orca, Delftship, OpenFoam, and Matlab. In our daily work, we communicate both internally and with our customers in Swedish and English, so good proficiency in these languages is necessary.

Part of the role

The role initially involves an assignment working full-time with the sister company Humphree AB to develop and implement a digital spare parts catalogue using Cortona 3D with animated video instruction and workshop manuals. The work includes building a complete spare parts system based on CAD and PLM data, enabling automatic generation of 2D illustrations, parts lists (DPL), technical documentation, and animated service instructions.

The system will comply with industry standards such as S1000D, ATA 2200, and DITA, and ensure that technical documentation remains synchronized with product design through automatic updates when engineering data changes. The solution will also provide interactive service documentation with 3D models and step-by-step animations accessible via web browsers and mobile devices. You will work close together with the Humphree service team and are expected to be the project leader for this implementation.

After the implementation phase, which is estimated to 4-6 months, ongoing part-time support and potential involvement in business development is expected.

In addition, you are expected to support Humphree Sales & Application teams with creating custom designs for interceptor applications with an expected workload of approximately 15–20% of your working time on a continuous basis.
In parallel, you will gradually become familiar with Profjord’s external business and take on increasing responsibility over time. This role offers a great opportunity to gain insight into the Humphree group and benefit from the strengths of both Profjord & Humphree.
