Let’s Talk About the Role
As a Field Service Engineer at Humphree AB, you will be a key part of our field operations. Your main responsibility will be ensuring that all our products and systems are delivered and maintained at the highest standard for our clients. You’ll be actively involved in a variety of tasks, including inspections, installations, and troubleshooting on vessels, while keeping a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Service Engineer, you must lead by example, demonstrating a positive attitude toward work, customers, the company, and job profitability. You'll contribute to subordinates' performance appraisals and assist with disciplinary actions when needed. Your responsibilities include inspecting and installing vessel components, managing communications with agents, ship owners, and subcontractors, and ensuring timely job updates to customers and managers.
You will prepare risk assessments, job scopes, and schedules, coordinate with internal departments, and oversee timesheet submissions. Cost control is vital, so you'll track man-hours, materials, and vendor costs, staying within budget. After completing jobs, you'll prepare reports with photos and provide recommendations for repairs and corrective actions.
You'll also create spare parts lists, schedule work with Gantt charts, maintain testing equipment, and prioritize safety and health in all tasks. Finally, you’ll take on other tasks as assigned by management.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualifications & Experience: Qualified Engineer in Mechanical, Marine, Ship Repair, or related fields with 5+ years of experience in propulsion systems, thrusters, and marine/offshore technology.
- Technical Skills: Experience in equipment alignment, laser usage, and knowledge of mechanical components (e.g., gearboxes, pumps), with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Language & Communication: Fluent in English (both spoken and written), with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work Ethic & Mindset: Ability to work under pressure, independently, and with a focus on continuous improvement; positive attitude and excellent time management.
- Flexibility & Teamwork: Willingness to travel frequently and strong team player with integrity.
